Trump Digital Gold FAQ

What exactly is TDGOLD?

Trump Digital Gold is a fixed-supply digital asset on the Stellar network. 6,830,000,000 tokens exist, one for every troy ounce of gold humanity has ever mined, and the full supply has already been issued. It trades directly on the Stellar decentralised exchange against XLM.

Is TDGOLD connected to Donald Trump?

No. TDGOLD is an independent, community-issued Stellar asset. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Donald J. Trump, any member of the Trump family, the Trump Organization, any Trump business or campaign, or any of their trademarks. The name is a theme, in the same way a gold-coloured logo is a theme.

Who publishes this site

Why 6,830,000,000 tokens?

That is roughly the number of troy ounces of gold humanity has ever mined, about 212,000 tonnes, the entire above-ground stock. One token per ounce ever dug up. The figure is fixed and the supply cannot grow.

Every number and where to check it

Will TDGOLD be backed by physical gold?

Gold backing is phase four of the roadmap and the objective the project is working toward. It requires four things in sequence: allocated metal in the custody of a licensed vault operator, an independent auditor attesting the reserves on a published schedule, a redemption right inside a legal structure, and the attestation published where wallets can read it. Every step will appear on the roadmap page as it lands.

Does the TDGOLD price track the gold price?

Today the price is whatever the Stellar order book says it is, set by what buyers and sellers agree on. A mechanical link to the spot price of gold is what phase four of the roadmap is for: once reserves and a redemption right exist, they are what ties a token to metal. Until then, treat TDGOLD as an asset priced by its own market.

What is the TDGOLD contract address?

There is not one. TDGOLD is a Stellar asset, not a smart contract token, so there is no 0x style address to paste into a wallet. The identifier that does the same job is the issuing account, the G address that created the asset, published on this site and in stellar.toml. If a site, a bot or a direct message gives you a 0x address for TDGOLD on any chain, it is not TDGOLD.

The two values that identify TDGOLD

How do I buy TDGOLD?

Install a Stellar wallet, fund it with XLM, add the TDGOLD trustline using the asset code and the issuing account published here, then swap XLM for TDGOLD on the built-in exchange. Settlement takes about five seconds and the network fee is a fraction of a cent.

What is a trustline and why do I need one?

Stellar does not let an account hold an asset it has not explicitly opted into. A trustline is that opt-in. You create one for TDGOLD once, it reserves 0.5 XLM of your balance, and from then on you can receive and trade the token. Remove the trustline later and the 0.5 XLM comes back.

The full buying guide

How much XLM do I need to get started?

An empty Stellar account holds 1 XLM it cannot spend, and every trustline adds another 0.5 XLM to that minimum. Add the network fee, which is 0.00001 XLM per operation, and something to actually trade with. Five XLM is a comfortable starting point rather than a magic number.

Can more TDGOLD ever be created?

No. The full supply of 6,830,000,000 was issued in a single payment and no further tokens are planned. Once the issuing account has its master key weight set to zero it cannot sign anything at all, which puts the ceiling on the ledger itself rather than in a promise. You can check the state of that account yourself on any Stellar explorer.

How to verify the asset yourself

How do I make sure I am buying the real TDGOLD?

Check the issuing account, character for character, against the address published on this site and in stellar.toml. Asset codes on Stellar are not unique, anyone can issue a token called TDGOLD. Only the issuing account tells them apart. Cross-check on Stellar.Expert before you trade.

How to verify the asset yourself

Are there taxes on buying or selling?

There is no token-level tax. Stellar has no transfer tax and TDGOLD adds none, so you pay the standard network fee of 0.00001 XLM per operation and nothing else to the asset itself. What you owe your own tax authority is a separate question, it depends on where you live, and this site will not guess at it.

Which wallets support TDGOLD?

Any wallet that supports Stellar assets and lets you add a trustline for an arbitrary issuing account. That last part matters: some wallets only show a curated list of assets and will not let you enter an issuer by hand, which makes them useless for a newly issued token.

Which wallets can hold it

Can I hold TDGOLD in MetaMask?

No. MetaMask is a wallet for Ethereum and other EVM networks, and Stellar is not one of them. It cannot hold a Stellar account, cannot create a trustline, and cannot sign a Stellar transaction. Anything presenting itself as TDGOLD inside MetaMask is a different token on a different chain.

Which wallets can hold it

Can I use a hardware wallet?

Stellar is supported by hardware devices through their own Stellar application, driven from a software wallet that knows how to talk to the device. The device signs, the software wallet builds the transaction. Check that both halves of that pair support adding a custom trustline before you rely on it.

Which wallets can hold it

Can I send TDGOLD to Binance, Coinbase or another exchange?

No. An exchange account is not a Stellar account you control, and no centralised exchange lists TDGOLD, so a deposit address there cannot receive it. The network refuses the payment and the tokens stay where they are. Trade on the Stellar decentralised exchange instead.

Which wallets can hold it

How do I remove the TDGOLD trustline and get my 0.5 XLM back?

The balance for that asset has to be exactly zero first, so sell or send away every last fraction of it. Then set the trustline limit to zero, which most wallets present as removing or hiding the asset. Your account minimum drops by 0.5 XLM and that XLM becomes spendable again. It was never sent anywhere, it was only reserved.

The full selling guide

How do I sell TDGOLD?

The same way you bought it, in reverse: place an order on the Stellar decentralised exchange, or use your wallet swap function, to trade TDGOLD back into XLM. Settlement takes about five seconds. On a thin order book a market order can fill at a worse price than the one on screen, so a limit order is usually the safer instrument.

The full selling guide

What happens if I send TDGOLD to the issuing account?

The tokens are destroyed. On Stellar an asset returned to the account that issued it is removed from circulation rather than credited anywhere, because an issuer does not hold a balance of its own asset. Never use the issuing account as a destination for anything.

The full selling guide

Where does the circulating supply live?

The entire supply was issued in one payment from the issuing account to a single distribution account, and both addresses are published in stellar.toml and on the tokenomics page. Every movement between them is public on the ledger in real time, so you can watch the account yourself before and after you buy.

Every number and where to check it

Is there a presale, an airdrop or a giveaway?

No. There is no presale, no airdrop form, no giveaway, and no team wallet that needs you to send XLM first. Every message claiming otherwise is a scam, without exception. Nobody from this project will ever ask for your recovery phrase, and no legitimate process on Stellar requires it.

What to watch out for

Two of these deserve more room than an accordion gives them: verifying the asset and the Stellar glossary.
