How to buy
From zero to holding TDGOLD
Buying Trump Digital Gold takes five steps, and one of them is unlike any other chain: before an account can hold an asset, it has to opt in with a trustline. That extra step is where nearly everyone gets stuck, so it gets its own section below.
- 1
Get a Stellar wallet
Install Lobstr on your phone or Freighter in your browser, or just open StellarTerm in a tab. Write the recovery phrase down on paper and keep it offline. Nobody from this project will ever ask you for it.
- 2
Fund it with XLM
Buy Stellar Lumens on any exchange that lists them and withdraw to your wallet address. Send at least 5 XLM: Stellar keeps 1 XLM locked as a base reserve, each trustline locks another 0.5, and you want change left over to actually trade with.
- 3
Add the TDGOLD trustline
In your wallet, find Add asset or Manage trustlines and enter the asset code TDGOLD together with the issuing account below. Paste the issuer, never type it from memory. This step is what lets your account hold the token at all.

Verify before you trade
Open the asset on Stellar.Expert and confirm the issuing account matches character for character. Asset codes are not unique on Stellar - the issuer is the only thing that separates the real token from a copy.
- 5
Swap XLM for TDGOLD
Place a market or limit order on the Stellar decentralised exchange, in your wallet or on StellarTerm. Confirm the transaction. Settlement takes about five seconds and the network fee is a fraction of a cent.
Step four is worth doing properly rather than quickly, because the verification guide walks through all four checks and explains why only one of them actually proves anything.
What a trustline actually is
On most networks, anyone can push any token into your wallet whether you asked for it or not. Stellar inverts that: an account holds nothing it has not explicitly accepted. A trustline is that acceptance, a small entry on your account naming which asset, from which issuer, you are willing to receive.
Creating one locks 0.5 XLM of your balance as a network reserve. The XLM is not spent and not sent anywhere; it sits reserved for as long as the trustline exists, and is released the moment you remove it. That is why the guide above says to fund with more than the bare minimum.
The trustline also carries a limit, which is the most of that asset your account is willing to hold. Most wallets set it to the maximum by default, and that is fine.
Trustlines, subentries, base reserves and the rest of the vocabulary are collected in the glossary, and whether your wallet can do this at all depends on the wallet, which is what the wallet comparison is for.
If something does not look right after the swap, start with the questions that come up most often. When you eventually want out, selling runs the same flow backwards.
Where to trade
StellarTerm
Web client with the TDGOLD / XLM pair pre-loaded. Connect a wallet and trade in the browser.
Lobstr
Mobile-first Stellar wallet with a built-in exchange, on iOS and Android.
Stellar.Expert
Not an exchange, an explorer. Use it to confirm the issuing account and the supply before you commit.
Staying safe
- Paste the issuing account. Never retype it, and never trust a screenshot of it.
- Your recovery phrase never needs to be typed anywhere except your own wallet. Nobody from this project will ask for it, ever.
- There is no presale, no airdrop form, and no team wallet asking you to send XLM first. Any message claiming otherwise is a scam.
- Only ever put in what you can afford to lose entirely.
Trustline added? Buy TDGOLD next
Then you are ready to trade. Verify the issuer one more time and go.
